Sound out loud : Cross the unjust line Connected
between the kneels and bows
by nobody
2006.2.7
Collected in these 2 CDs, are 22 songs by various people. These works
of music are their sincere documentations and responses to the rumblings
on the streets, the sounds and visions in the media and the marks left
on their body and soul and their lives during the 6th Ministerial Conference
of the World Trade Organisation held at Hong Kong on December 2005.
This gathering of sounds is neither a manifesto nor a public educational
project and certainly not somekind of mission that has to be accomplished
by any organisation. These diverse sounds gathered on the same path, and
shown the responses of ordinary people to the injustice happening around
them. At the same time, it is also because that they were being touched
and aroused when they see the resistance to injustice before their eyes.
These people do not belong to the same organisation, do not have any
prior plan. It just started with one, and a few responded, then ones become
tens, tens become hundreds, some offered their music, some helped with
recording and mixing, some donated money, some worked with text, translations,
designs, some worked on distribution, some wrote the reviews.......
Among these people, some have been concerned about WTO for the last few
years, some only learned of the WTO during the last few months or even
just weeks. Some are farm workers, some are wage workers, some are home
workers, consumers, students. Some were moved because of the movies they
watched, some because of the news they saw. Some were there in the scene,
some weren't. Some voiced their support, some went on hunger strike, some
shot video, some wrote articles. Some were chased away, some were arrested.
Some were drowned by the water cannon, some were choked by teargas, some
did first-aid, some crossed the police cordon. Some were angry at the
police, some sympathized with the police. Some thought they were helping
the others, some thought they were acting for their own lives.
And now, we work on CD together. If there is anything that connects us,
it must be the reverence towards heaven and earth, shown to us through
the kneels and bows of the Korean farmers, which we have always been carrying
in ourselves as ordinary people.
Also, being ordinary people living between heaven and earth, we are willing
to offer our sweat and blood, to struggle for a breath of fresh and righteous
air, and reclaim a piece of paradise on earth.
Therefore, let's chant the battle songs together!
Dots were connected, from ones to tens and tens to hundreds. Now that
you heard, are you connected and becomes one that will connect to the
thousands? This gathering of music, is only beginning.......
